Jiu Jitsu Kids Shine at Copa America Grappling Tournament

Jiu Jitsu Instructors Ramonte Chatman and Aaron King pose with their young students at the tournament.

Once again our academy made a spectacular showing at the most recent Copa America (www.copagrappler.com). Eight of our young jiu jitsu students took to the mats to battle in this local submission grappling tournament. Since this was a small event, brackets were combined and many of our kids had to compete against older and bigger opponents. Every match was hard fought  and we congratulate everyone who brought their heart out on Saturday. The results of Copa America are :

Blake Bailey – Silver in Gi and Bronze in No Gi;

Brieanna Chatman – Bronze in Gi and Silver in No Gi;

Shaelynn Chatman – Bronze in Gi and Bronze in No Gi;

Cade Lackey – Silver in Gi and Gold in No Gi;

Austin Patterson – Gold in Gi;

Jacob Patterson – Silver in Gi and Silver in No Gi;

Tommy Pulliam – 0 & 2 in Gi and 1 & 2 in No Gi;

Mathew Perez – Bronze in No Gi.

The medal count for Copa America is 12 total with 2 Golds, 5 Silvers and 5 Bronzes.

We Have Moved!

Success breeds growth! Since I have taken over the Georgia Fight Club, the business has seen many changes. We shifted the business into a true martial arts academy by offering specific disciplines taught by professional instructors, and named it the GFC Martial Arts Academy. We put focus and passion into the classes by adjusting the learning atmosphere. We have entered many competitions and have received the highest of honors. And now, that hard work has paid off.

You, our loyal students, have been telling your friends and family members about the exciting times at GFC and have flooded the classes with individuals eager to learn the art of self defense and fitness. With that growth we have had to move to a much larger facility, more centrally located to our market.

Come join us at 2944 Rosebud Rd. in Loganville just behind the BP gas station in the Rosebud Commons Shopping Center.

GFC Represents at the Combat Sports Expo

On April 3, 2010, our very own GFC warrior Thomas Erwin took the ring during the Combat Sports Expo at the Renaissance Waverly in Atlanta to take home a hard fought draw after three full rounds of intense Muay Thai action. The fight was scored 29-27 Thomas, 28-28 draw, 28-28 draw. Thomas put his opponent to the ground several times with sweeps and also landed many hard leg kicks forcing his opponent’s knee to the canvas. The fight was a great battle leaving everyone wanting to see much more of Thomas’s skills in the future.

Please check out our current events and support our fighters, so you don’t miss out on Thomas’s or anyone else’s future fights or competitions. It takes a lot of determination, skill, blood, sweat and tears to get into a ring or on a mat and we want our fighters to know the gym is always behind them! Great job Thomas, keep up the hard training!
